Abrasion resistant varnish?

I race my yacht and she has varnished cockpit cappings that constantly get worn away from my sheet hand sitting on them with his wet gear on. What would be a better choice of varnish than the International Goldspar I currently use? It seems pretty good on the handrails and the companionway trims but not here. Thanks.

  1. I would try a multi pack coating like Awlbrite. but the cost of a can for that little job would be a factor. There are some additives for single pack polyurethanes that accelerate drying. They contain additives including isocyanates and the end result is a much harder coating. Altex have one for their enamels which works in Timbercote too.
